PITTSBURGH
January 24, 2006
In an innovative use of the historic space at the Hartley Rose Building at 425 First Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh, the law firm of Fried & Davis is prominently displaying works of art by local artists for exhibit and sale. The 6,000 square foot, open space design provides the perfect fit for their growing law practice and their first art exhibit by well known painter, Barry Shields.

Fried explained, "In return for showcasing these works of art, we gain the opportunity to enjoy working amongst these paintings until they are sold."

BARRY SHIELDS is a landscape painter who has been painting local landscapes in Pittsburgh since 1990. He shows his work at several Pittsburgh galleries: the Concept Art Gallery, Circle in the Square Gallery, the James Gallery and the Bird in Hand Gallery in Sewickley, and has his work in the permanent collection at the Carnegie Museum. He is the recipient of several awards including the Pittsburgh Magazine's Artist of the Year award.

The new FRIED-DAVIS partnership in this space benefits from the complementary set of skills that Fried and Davis bring to the practice. In discussing his new partner, Davis noted that "Peggy [Margaret] is an experienced trial lawyer, most recently spending nine years as a senior staff attorney at Neighborhood Legal Services. Her track record of vigorous representation of low income clients in front of administrative, federal and state courts speaks for itself." Fried is a 1988 honors graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was a member of Law Review.

Eric Davis is a longtime technology entrepreneur and founder of ePowerApps, a prominent Pittsburgh technology solutions company. He is a 2005 law school graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he also received an MBA. Davis met his new partner while working at Neighborhood Legal Services while a student attending law school. In addition to his business experience, his expertise in high technology enables the firm to serve local high technology and life sciences clients. Eric also works extensively with nonprofit groups to assist them with fundraising and strategic planning. "Our offices and our commitment to the arts reflect the values of our firm" says Davis.

Fried & Davis handles legal matters in the following practice areas: Business Law, Nonprofit Law, Contracts, Estates and Trusts, Employment Law, Appellate Practice, Real Estate Law, Elder Law, and General Litigation.
