PITTSBURGH
March 17, 2006
Eric Davis, a partner in the new Pittsburgh law firm Fried-Davis, LLC, (www.fried-davis.com) has been chosen by the Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Organizations (PANO) to give workshops across Pennsylvania this spring on grant proposal preparation. PANO is the statewide membership organization serving and advancing the charitable nonprofit sector through leadership, advocacy, education and services in order to improve the quality of life in Pennsylvania. The workshop will be open to both PANO members and the general public. "It's a great honor for an attorney to be considered an expert by the leading nonprofit association in the Commonwealth in preparing winning grant proposals," Attorney Davis stated. Attorney Davis, who focuses on corporate and nonprofit law issues at his law firm, worked as a highly successful grantwriter throughout law school for his mother's company, Procopio & Associates Fundraising. (www.procopiofundraising.com)

The workshop is entitled "Grant Writing for Serious Grant Seekers." Offered as individual half day sessions or one full day session, the workshop includes a 3 ½ hour morning session for inexperienced grantwriters or those who have yet to develop a truly compelling written case for financial grant support. Following lunch, Attorney Davis will give a 3 ½ hour advanced grantwriting workshop for experienced grant proposal preparers looking to hone their skills. The workshops will be given in Allentown April 6th; in Pittston April 10th; in Pittsburgh April 28th, in Philadelphia May 3rd, and in Harrisburg May 24th. Directions to each venue and registration information are available at the PANO website: www.pano.org/events.php

"Grant seeking has never been more competitive than it is today. With information on grant opportunities so broadly available online, most grant making foundations and agencies receive hundreds more worthy grant proposals for each funding cycle than they could ever fund." Attorney Davis's workshop will teach attendees how to pre-judge their grant proposals by thinking like a grant maker, and to de-mystify the various components of a fully-developed proposal. He will also provide suggestions on how fundraisers can meet their legal obligations around disclosures and registration with regulating bodies.
